Love your workstation!

8 steps to decorating your workspace!
Are you one of those who spend more time at work as compared to your home? Those long hours at work can easily make one feel claustrophobic but you can make your boring, dull work life a little more interesting and homey by decorating your work space. Not only it brightens your mood but it actually helps in improving your work efficiency.
Let me share some tips that will help you create the perfect cubicle decorating space.

Keep in mind that this is a business space
The first rule of decorating your workstation is to keep in mind that this space belongs to your company and not to you. Before u go ahead with the decoration preps, you need to seek your employer’s permission and get an idea of what types of decorations are permitted.
Synchronize your decor in with the type of business you work for
You should always keep the nature of your work in mind before decorating your work station. The cubicle décor should complement the type of business you work for. For example, if you work for a company concerned with environmentally friendly alternative energy sources then it is probably a good idea to leave that lava lamp at home.

Go for a theme
Themes are the best way to start your decoration with. It gives you a sense and direction of how you can decorate your space. An easy way to decorate a cubicle is to pick a theme. Themes can be simple such as a color theme or more complicated like turning your Cubicle into a Hawaiian Style hut. While the hut theme may work exceptionally well in a cubicle in a large travel agency it may not go so well in a thousand other businesses you can name. The theme you choose should complement your business nature.

Too much is not good!
While you want your cubicle to feel a little less sterile and a little more warm and friendly, you don’t want it to end up looking all stuffed and messy.
Try to take a look at your cubicle overall and decide on just a few areas that could use some improvement and what would be the best way to add a few simple colorful touches that would create a feeling of warmth and give a small amount of insight into your own personality.

Say yes to area rugs
Consider adding a small area rug to add a bit of texture and color to the cubicle’s floor. Adding area rugs can beautify a small space while making it look spacious and neat.
You can also add an area rug over that company carpeting. If you choose to do so make sure that the rug you choose compliments that carpet that is already in place.

Hang framed pictures and quotes to give substance to a blank wall
If your cubicle has a blank wall or a notice board, you always make that wall/ board the focal point of your office by creating a warm and interesting arrangement. This arrangement can include your diplomas, certificates, pictures of your family, and interesting/funny quotes. This will make the cubicle more inviting to you and will help give a personal face to any clients visiting your cubicle.

Don’t forget the plants!
One of the easiest ways to add warmth and charm to an office cubicle is by adding a plant or two. Plants provide a sense of calm and add a little bit of life to that dull office décor. Even if your cubicle lacks a window you can choose from plants that need less sunlight or go for an artificial plant.

Find ways to liven up your workstation
While you don’t want to add anything to your workstation that is going to slow down the efficiency of your work, you also don’t want your work station to look boring or humdrum especially after adding décor to the rest of your office so find those items that will add bits of color and texture to your workstation without interfering with work.
A colorful or whimsical mouse pad, your computer wall paper, or a colorful and interesting shaped holder for your pens and pencils will all help bring your cubicle décor together without interfering with your ability to get your work done. Again the colors of these small items should equal or be echoed in other office décor so that your office looks smart and professional as well as personalized.
If you deal with clients on a regular basis, do add a nice looking name plate where they can see it easily. Not only will this help to make your cubicle more attractive but it will help nervous clients remember your name thus saving them a lot of embarrassment.

Color your home beautifully!

Choose the right color in the right amount at the right place for your home!

Last time when I decided to renovate my house, I was struck with the dilemma of choosing colors that would settle for my home perfectly. Im sure you all agree that selecting that perfect balance of right color scheme for your home can be over whelming because the options are endless. One may feel dragged to the idea of experimenting with completeley different colors or be unsure of how much color they can handle in their environment. Here are a few things I've learned along the way about how to settle on colors for your home.

Tip 1. Pinterest-ing!

Pinterest works the best for me when decorating my house. It works as an excellent resource for organizing all your desirable images in one place. Start surfing on Pinterest and gather all the crazy ideas that you can work in your place. (Don’t stop yourself from thinking out of the box). Once you've collected enough images and had time to analyze them, you'll pick up on the trends and patterns that you're drawn to and can then think about how to incorporate those into your own home.

Tip 2. Break up lots of color with neutrals.

Neutrals can do the wonder for you! If you have white walls, you may want to experiment with bold art and bright curtains. If all of your living room furniture is upholstered in colorful patterns and prints, you may want to stick with a solid color rug and pillows. Neutrals give your eye a place to land and help balance out a colorful room.
Examples of neutrals are natural wooden elements such as the dining room chairs and clipboards above. They allow your attention to focus on the colorful elements rather than create distractions.

Tip 3. Repeat your colors throughout your room.
Repeating colors throughout a room, or even your entire household, creates a stronger design. If you use objects with colors complimenting each other, you can easily rearrange or add elements in similar tones when you want to change things up a bit.
In conclusion, look for patterns in the things you're inspired by, break up color with neutrals, and repeat your colors throughout as you decorate. Most of all don't be scared to commit to color in your space. It's one of the best ways to make your space uniquely yours!
